Hey everyone, thank you for watching!
In this weeks vlog we continued our trip around the pristine beaches of Sri Lanka, exploring 4 of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful beaches: Mirissa, Unawatuna, Jungle beach and Mihiripenna; with golden white sands and perfectly blue water all of these beaches are a must see on the Sri Lankan south coast. We were also lucky enough to see the WORLD’S BIGGEST ANIMAL in Mirissa – seeing the Blue Whale in all its glory was a breathtaking moment and one that should definitely not be missed! For good measure we even managed to cram in some culture, exploring the ruins of Galle fort before becoming completely relaxed experiencing a traditional Sri Lankan Ayurvedic massage.
Thank you all for watching we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Please like, share, comment and hit the subscribe button!

One of my wishes for travel vloggers is that you tell a bit about the history of the places that you visit. I realize that takes doing a little more research and connecting with the locals, but that would be awesome. The new rapid fire editing techniques don’t allow for that. But telling a story about the places is like traveling there through you

Hey, Thank you so much for your advice! it is something we try and incorporate but it is usually the explanation and dialog that gets edited out. We will work on it in future vlogs though please let us know if you notice an improvement!

A bit of History about Galle
Ceylon: An Account of the Island Physical, Historical and …, Volume 2
By Sir James Emerson Tennent
it was not till after the return of Drake from his circumnavigation of the globe in 1579, that Queen Elizabeth proclaimed the right of her own subjects to navigate the Indian Seas on an equality with those of Spain. In pursuance of this bold declaration, the first vessels that ever sailed direct from England to India were despatched in 1591, not, however, to trade with the natives, facilities for which had not yet been ascertained, but to “cruize upon the Portuguese.”The expedition was unfortunate, the admiral perished, and Lancaster, the surviving officer, on his way home from Malacca touched at Ceylon, and “ankered at a place called Punta del Galle, about the 3rd of December 1592.” Thus the “Edward Bonaventure” was the first British ship, as Ralph Fitch had been the first British subject, that had visited Ceylon.
Pays de Galles, or the Welsh came from Galle.
The Pictorial History of England: Being a History of the People, as well as the Kingdom
George Lillie Craik, Charles McFarlane, Hans Claude Hamilton – 1838
The Cymry, or ancestors of the present Welsh, therefore were, according to this authority, the first inhabitants of Britain. Another triad (the fourth of the same series) states that their leader was Hu Cadarn, that is, Hugh the strong, or the mighty, by whom they were conducted through the Hazy, that is, the German Ocean, to Britain, and to Llydaw, that is Armorica, or Bretagne. It is added, that they came originally from the country of Summer, which is called Defrobani, where Constantinople is. Some interpreters have been inclined to go so far for Defrobani as to the island of Ceylon, one of the ancient names of which was Tabrobane ;* and we shall find in the sequel that there is another theory, as well as that of the Welsh triads, which connects the British islands with Ceylon.
Mary Jones in Celtic Literature Collective (2004) writes : “Welsh records maintain that the very first Druids, i.e., the Pheryllt, arrived in Wales as part of the migra¬tion of Cymry, a people who had traveled from the “Summer Land” of “Defrobani.” Defrobani is the Welsh word for Taprobana, an early name for Sri Lanka, an island off the coast of India that shares the same yogic culture. It is said that the Cymry were guided from Defrobani or Sri Lanka to the British Isles by the Welsh culture hero Hu Gadarn, and the proof of their journey can be found in the Welsh language which is full of Sanskrit root words. Once in Wales Hu Gadarn founded the first sect of Druids, who were worshipers of Kerridwen and believed to have been the Phe¬ryllt.
A Voice from Stonehenge -Henry Montague Grover – 1847
For we know that Sir William Jones, whose learning and judgment qualified him to give such an opinion its full weight, saw distinct evidences to lead him to a conclusion, that the Indian island of Ceylon and the European island of Crete were in ancient times in some sort of connexion: and according to M. Pezron the Curetes were a race of Cretan Druids.
The Mirror of Literature, Amusement, and Instruction
1839
Whence came the Druids? This is a question that has been frequently put of late years, and the answer has generally been—the east. This is, as regards the sense of the mere word east, quite true; though when the particular part of this quarter of the earth is asked for, a variety of opinions become manifest: Persia, India, and Ceylon, are respectively stated to be the original seat of Druidism; and the asserters of these several opinions as to the native land of the Druids, in some instances, differ widely as to the nature of its principles. It has been identified with Buddhism.
